Day 1: Forbidden City & Tiananmen Square

    Morning:

    • Tiananmen Square
Start your day by visiting Tiananmen Square, one of the world’s largest public squares and a site of significant historical events. Located in the heart of Beijing, it is home to landmarks such as:
      • Mausoleum of Mao Zedong: Pay respects at the tomb of Chairman Mao, the founding father of the People’s Republic of China.
      • Monument to the People’s Heroes: A towering obelisk commemorating those who sacrificed during the struggles for the nation.
      • The Great Hall of the People: A large government building used for legislative and political events.
      • National Museum of China: A museum showcasing China’s rich cultural history (optional, if time allows).

    Late Morning to Afternoon:

    • Forbidden City (Imperial Palace)
After exploring Tiananmen Square, walk to the Forbidden City, located just to the north of the square. This massive complex, also known as the Imperial Palace, was the seat of Chinese emperors for almost 500 years. Highlights include:
      • Meridian Gate: The main entrance to the palace.
      • Hall of Supreme Harmony: The largest hall in the Forbidden City and the site of major imperial ceremonies.
      • Inner Court: The private quarters of the emperor and his family.
      • Imperial Gardens: A peaceful garden with beautiful landscapes and ancient trees.

Allow for at least 2-3 hours to tour the Forbidden City, as the site is expansive with many halls, gardens, and courtyards to explore.

    Evening:

    • Dinner and Nightlife
After a full day of sightseeing, enjoy a traditional Peking duck dinner at one of the city’s famous restaurants, such as Quanjude or Da Dong. Post-dinner, you can take a stroll around Wangfujing Street, a popular shopping and snack street in Beijing, for a vibrant night out.

Day 2: Great Wall of China (Mutianyu or Badaling Section)

Morning:

  • Travel to the Great Wall
Start your day early and head to one of the most famous sections of the Great Wall of China. There are multiple sections of the wall that can be visited, but the most popular are Badaling and Mutianyu.
    • Badaling: The most visited section, known for its well-preserved state and wide accessibility, making it great for tourists.
    • Mutianyu: Known for its scenic views and fewer crowds compared to Badaling, this section is also very well-preserved and offers a more serene experience.

Take a cable car or hike to the top of the Wall. Once there, you can walk along its incredible length, enjoying breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and countryside.

Afternoon:

  • Exploring the Wall
Spend a couple of hours walking along the Great Wall, taking in the ancient architecture, and capturing stunning photos. You can also choose to walk a short distance or explore longer stretches, depending on your fitness level and interest.

Late Afternoon:

  • Return to Beijing
After exploring the Great Wall, return to Beijing in the late afternoon. You can visit some local shops or markets for souvenirs, or simply relax after a full day of exploring.

Evening:

  • Optional: Acrobatic Show or Traditional Chinese Performance
End your tour with an evening of cultural entertainment, such as a Peking Opera show or an Acrobatic Performance. These shows are a fantastic way to experience Chinese culture and artistry.
